Heart
By: Ley Wire

My heart, you are a fickle friend.
I've seen you stretch and bend.
You've been known to sacrifice,
And empathize,
To bleed out comfort,
Though, let's not pretend,
That you are strong,
Because you've also cried.
Shriveled up,
Humiliated,
Crushed by a simple sigh,
Weighed heavy on your chest.
Then, you've searched faces,
For a friendly smile,
Anxiously,
Stressed.
I thought you dead more than one before,
But even in your weakness you bled out more.
Cracked and broken,
You hoped for things unspoken,
Saw faces anxiously await your smile,
And felt comfort for awhile.
