The House (that does its best impression of being cursed)

"... and they all lived together in a little, crooked house."

That's our house. It's crooked in the middle. The walls inside aren't parallel. But it's crooked in other ways too, but the walls thing is still annoying.

Shortly after we moved in we discovered a gas leak. We got that patched right up. Then, other small things happened, the power went out in a couple of storms, the kids overflowed a toilet or two, or maybe the same toilet twice.

Our dishwasher broke, but we were able to fix it ourselves, the first time (more on that later).

March brought with it a big melt and our house flooded a bit, right at that crooked part in the middle. That wasn't so bad. A week later our septic backed up. That was bad.

So, what does one do when their septic backs up, flooding the majority of their lower level?

My first thought- Move. Move and never look back.

Obviously, this happens all the time and there are professionals who sweep in and clear and tear everything up and spray antimicrobial goodness everywhere.

Problem solved!

But not quite. The reason our septic backed was we (probably) needed a new drain field.

So, we got our yard dug up. Meanwhile, our dishwasher really did break, then our dryer also broke. We had a person fix our dryer without much issue and a new dishwasher installed (twice) with some minor issues.

But what about the flooding in the crooked part of your house?!, one might ask.

Well, I'll tell you what. We had a sump pump installed. Was it installed entirely incorrectly the first time? You bet it was!

So, anyway, that's our house. Our crooked home sweet home.

Edit- My husband reminds me that since we've moved into Crooked House our AC and furnace started to die so we replaced those, and our well pump broke and the door in out basement started leaking, both upstairs bathroom sinks also leaked as well as the kitchen sink. Maybe noteworthy- roughly 1/2 of the light bulbs in the house were burnt out when we moved in. And we had to get a cat out of the ceiling (we don't own a cat). And our bed broke.
